We're on the Road !

The Kickstarter campaign was successful. We raised the money required to buy, restore, and repaint... to recreate... Dr. Bob's Woodstock Light Bus. It's going to be a great project.

What a wonderful experience.

These Kickstarter things, like starting up anything new, sure isn't easy. "A new idea is delicate. It can be killed by a sneer or a yawn; it can be stabbed to death by a quip, and worried to death by a frown on the right man's brow." ~Charlie Brower

And yet as ideas grow they gain strength. VICTOR HUGO once remarked: “You can stop an invading army; you cannot stop an idea whose time has come.”

It's particularly poignant in my view because the bus itself is a symbol of an idea, a symbol of our best impulses and highest hopes. Some of those ideas and hopes have felt lost since the Woodstock-era. It is easy in the light of present-day knowledge and achievement to ridicule and condemn the the ideas of a past age. But this is a mistake. Much of the wisdom and most of the beauty of the past is lost because we do not have sufficient knowledge and imagination to divest ourselves of our modern refinements and to relive the struggles, the hopes and fears, and faiths and beliefs of those who, more than us, were in contact with the mystery of life.

Thanks to every individual who backed this project and to the great sponsors who love buses and art.

Now the time has come. We're on the road. We've started the journey.
